My name is Keoikantse Sencomedi, and I am 26 years old. I am a farmer and the co-founder of NYK Evergreen, based in Tarlton Agri-Park. I am also an agriculture graduate. I started farming here last year, and we farm manually on a two-hectare farm.

I like to say that agriculture chose me. It all started in varsity when the course I wanted was full, so because I didn’t want to take a gap year, I had to go with what was available then. So, as the course went on, I started loving agriculture, which is the basis of food production.

Agriculture is life, and without it, there is no life, so that is what inspired me to continue.

To young people who are passionate about farming but have not started, I would like to say that there is no good time to start like now.

Yes, starting farming from scratch may be a bit difficult, but with determination and persistence, it can be achieved. Stop procrastinating and start feeding the world.

At the moment, we are not selling anything as we are still busy with our tomato crops and peppers. We are also in the process of planting cucumbers.
