There's a movie related to this thing "Accelerator beneath the ground" starring Antonio Banderas, the scientist involve in creating that hadrons believed that, they can start a 2nd BigBang To know how the universe started. And the reason why they make it, exactly what the narrator says in this video...

They attempt to make a Bigbang or open something that could destroy the earth. But in the movie, when Scientist, Engineers and crew including the Head of that Project run the accelerator, it explode, killing everyone on that base and destroyed everything including the surface of the ground in huge circular.

Antonio try to escape from the cracking ground made by exploding hadrons and succesfully manage to escape with his car. Now i hope when they start to use that hadrons in 100% operation. It will failed and killed them all with that machine.
